As part of our DT topic, we made tower structures. We used newspaper and found out that it was a lot more sturdy when we rolled it up. The best tower structures were the ones that had a strong base. We had lots of fun and next week we will try to improve on our designs.
Year 2 enjoyed a visit to St Michael’s Church as part of our RE topic. Reverend Rick showed us around the church and we even got to climb up the new bell tower! We had a fantastic time and got to learn all about the objects in a church and why church is a special place for many people.
As part of our Design Technology project, Year 1 have been designing and making sandwiches for a picnic!
There were some very interesting designs and the children had a brilliant time learning how to spread, cut, make and eat their sandwiches.
The weather was wonderful and we all had a super time!
Today we have been visited by the Wild Discovery centre and a Vet. We are looking forward to meeting an actor this afternoon! What a busy day!
Today 32 children from KS2 represented St. Michael’s at the inter-school athletics at Carr Hill High School. We had a fantastic day. The children performed brilliantly, tried their hardest and showed excellent sportsmanship and teamwork. The sun was shining for us and I am very proud to say that we came 1st! Well done to everyone who took part in this event, you are a credit to St Michael’s!
We have been investigating what we think plants need to grow. We think plants need water, soil and sun. We planted our seed and some of us did not give our plant one of these things. Some of us gave our plant all of these things. Look at what has happened so far!! Can you guess which plants have everything?
Welcome to the Year 1 class blog! We will be sharing our learning and pictures of exciting activities on here. The children will really enjoy reading your comments about their learning so please feel free to take a moment and leave a comment.
